Consumer Satisfaction Done Right (almost)...

An open letter from Steve Jobs to all iPhone customers states that, in light of the recent $200 price drop, a $100 store credit is in the bag for anyone that paid full price as an early adopter. Kudos to Apple for recognizing their current PR dilemma (but mommy there's no such thing as bad PR, right?)... But...

C'mon, Apple! You've built your entire reputation as an experience company. You sell computers.....expensive computers. And people buy them. Why? The experience, stupid. A $100 store credit has placated the PR steamroller headed in your direction but you've just alienated the early adopters of your products......your biggest customers. These are the people that stood in line for HOURS (and some even overnight) to get their hands on your precious iPhone so that they could tell their friends (word of mouth being the best marketing tool ever invented).

Nice job, Steve.
