I should really put a sign near my desk that says, "Before you ask me, did you ask Google?" Obnoxious? Yes. But in this day and age, I am only as smart as Google makes me appear. Take me away from my computer and I am "internet stupid". That is, I have all of this information at my fingertips so I appear only as smart as my search abilities on the internet make me look. In comparison, that's pretty smart. Why? I've determined that if most knowledge workers today would just spend a few minutes learning how to use Google to their advantage then a lot of questions that cross my desk would be answered on their own. And we would all appear much smarter. That's a great thing!
